To magnify the view of the park’s greenery, warm timbers and soft blues and greens were implemented. The goal was to make the home feel lived-in and enduring – able to weather the wear and tear of daily life – so hard-wearing materials were essential to see this build come to life.

The Approach
The architect designed a curved staircase with an open void that followed an undulated form. Sophisticated and bright, this is a real focal point of the home. The shape of the staircase informed our design choices and mirrored the curve in the terrazzo kitchen floor below. Our team reviewed the architectural plans and tweaked some spaces to make the home more customised and functional for the client’s needs. We worked on every inch of this home – not even the exterior paving came out unscathed.

The Details
The colours were inspired by the view of the surrounding national park. Natural timber, blues and soft greens were selected to magnify the view of the greenery. Our clients, who labelled their design preference as ‘conservative’, requested that we push the limits, so that’s exactly what we did.
To suit a more subtle and neutral style, we chose soft pink curtains to soften the white rooms. Although the use of colour was integral to the build, the overall palette is relatively neutral which allowed the clients to add their flair with more colour and Aboriginal textiles in the same muted tones, without compromising the overall look.
